Where are you on this Christmas Eve?
When the lights are on the ground
When there's trouble all around
The brothers and sisters rage on
Have all of your friends gone?
Have you told him he's the man of your dreams?
Is your hair covered in snow?
Are there whispers that you wrote?
Are you rocking in his glow?
Or like me, with nowhere to go?
There stands Baldur underneath the mistletoe
With his hands in his pockets waiting for the kiss to pierce his heart
There I stand in a park covered in snow
Reaching out to where your voice would ring were we not apart
I'll wish for a better year for us
I'll wish for a better year for us
There you stand in a park covered in snow
With a hand reaching where his voice would ring were you not apart
There they are laughing into open arms
Riding off in a television world from afar
Where are you on this Christmas Eve?
When the lights are on the ground
When there's quiet all around
The lovers and singers sleep on
Have all of your friends gone?
Have I told you you're the man of my dreams?
At the end of this road
Is a story to be told
I'll wish for a better year for us
I'll wish for a better year for us
I'll wish for a better year for us
I'll wish for a better year for us

It's taking an hour more to get home by train
All of our friends and family are already out of the snow
Party hats and champagne glasses clinking by the fireplace
You're counting down the minutes for me to walk in through that door
When I come home covered in frost
I'll melt right into your open arms
Slow dancing to Bette Midler
What could be better
And here I thought that you would leave if I were to take too long
You're too forgiving to stick around for a dud like me
But I guess with all the time we spent away from all of our dreams
We've got each other to carry us through that door
Tugging you by the tie, we'll spin
I'll melt right into your open arms
Slow dancing to Bette Midler
What could be better
And when the year is finally over
I'll melt right into your open arms
Slow dancing to Bette Midler
What could be better

Your post said that you wouldn't be on here anymore
And if we wanted to see you just call or text
But you were let down by how few people called or texted
What did you expect when you're not reminding them that you exist?
So deck the halls with pictures of the new friends you made this year
Well at least you've still got friends
You're not the only one who feels like nothing will ever be the same
The holidays are a little colder this year
It was a tough two years for everyone, I had written some cards
To stay in touch, and I'm writing more this month
It's like a catalogue of everyone I'd like to make the time for
At some point I realized I don't even think about him anymore
And I don't mind, that I'm different from the man I was before
That I'm not fully a man
You're not the only one who feels like nothing will ever be the same
The holidays are a little colder this year
And I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year
And to anyone who's still here
We'll cast our burdens to the Yule log flame
And watch the embers dissipate

But you were let down by how few people called or texted
What did you expect when you're not reminding them that you exist?
So deck the halls with pictures of the new friends you made this year
Well at least you've still got plans
You're not the only one who feels like nothing will ever be the same
The holidays are a little colder this year
It was a tough two years for everyone, I had wrote some cards
To stay in touch, but I'm writing less this month
Maybe we hoped too much on those we'd never see again
Because they're sorting things out and they don't have the time for us
And I don't mind, that I'm different from the man I was before
That I'm not even fully a man
You're not the only one who feels like nothing will ever be the same
The holidays are a little colder this year
And I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year
Cause I know that things will change
But if there is one thing I wish wouldn't change
It's to be enough for you
And to be enough for me

Christmas Carol (2022)
04:10
|

The Ghost of Christmas Past and I went on a date
In Wilmington, Delaware
He asked if I had any business over there
I said, “Home is not a place.”
The Ghost of Christmas Present and I met for some fun
In Brooklyn, New York
They showed me people I'm not friends with anymore
I said, “Home is not another person.”
There stood Hanly underneath the mistletoe
With his hands in his pockets waiting for the chance to start again
There I was in a front yard filled with snow
With the same look that I had when I thought my heart belonged with him
I cast my burdens to the Yule log flame
And watched the embers dissipate
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come and I went to bed
After I had written some letters
He asked if I will do the same story again
I said, “Why not?”
Each time will only get better
